I often talk about how much I prefer Manga Studio over Photoshop for digital inking. Photoshop is by far the superior product for coloring comics, but since it’s a tool made for a wide range of uses I feel it lacks some comic specific features that make Manga Studio the better tool for digital inks. Because the lion’s share of what I do now is digital I have had folks asking what my workspace is like. This is a screen shot of my two monitors. The top one is my mail monitor where I keep most of my palates. The lower one is my Cintiq (12 inch) where I do my inking. I keep my tool bar on this screen for easy access. On a whim last week I ordered a copy of my very first paying gig.  It was an eight page story in a book from Antarctic Press called “Shotgun Mary: Shooting Gallery”.  If I remember correctly the eight pages paid a total of $250. I was wandering through the web today when I came across this great post about “spec” work. That lead to this slightly more angry variation on the same idea. To sum up- anyone who offers to pay you nothing for your art has already shown you how much respect he has for it.
